Team

About us

• We´re twin brothers Lucas and Moritz Hamm, born in Salzburg in 2008 and raised by Lake Chiemsee in Bavaria. We currently  attend the Ludwig-Thoma-Gymnasium.
• Sports have always been a huge part of our lives. Before fully focussing on sailing, we competed in tennis (Bavarian Talent Pool until 2019) and alpine skiing (Tyrolean Ski Association until 2021).

Sailing Journey from Opti to 49er

• We´ve been passionate about sailing since the age of six, training at the Chiemsee Yacht Club (CYC). Whenever we´re not in school, we´re out on the water - also sailing other classes like WASZP, Switch, and J/70. One of our early inspirations is Olympic silver medalist Tina Lutz, also from the CYC. Our dream is to one day compete at the Olympic Games ourselves. 
• We started out in Optimists, first as training partners and rivals in fleet races, later as teammates in team races. Since 2022, we´ve raced together in the 29er and 49er FX, where our skills complement each other perfectly. As of summer 2025, we sail the 49er - the Olympic men's class.

Achievements & Engagement

• We´ve been part of the German Sailing Team's youth national squad (NK2) since 2024 and members of the Bavarian state team since 2019. In 2025, we were honored to join the Bavarian Sports Foundation. We also hold C-level coaching licenses and enjoy mentoring younger sailors during training sessions and regattas.
• To stay fit and balanced, we also enjoy skiing, running, cycling, tennis, and working out in the gym.
